They found that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Patients who had hearing loss were more likely to develop postoperative complications compared to those with normal hearing.<\/li><li>Every 10 dB increase in hearing loss was associated with a <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/34711743\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">14% increase in the odds of developing a postoperative complication.<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aging and Hearing Loss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Though more research needs to be done, this finding is significant because millions of older adults currently have hearing loss. It\u2019s estimated that roughly one in three adults in the United States between the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nidcd.nih.gov\/health\/age-related-hearing-loss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ages of 65 and 74 have hearing loss<\/a>. Additionally, nearly half of those older than 75 have difficulty hearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the numerous older adults that have some degree of hearing loss, a significant amount do not use hearing aids, even though they would benefit from doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be Proactive in Protecting Your Hearing Health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re over the age of 60, take control of your hearing health by getting regular<a href=\"https:\/\/advancedhearingga.com\/hearing-loss\/hearing-tests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> hearing tests<\/a> and being aware of the early signs of hearing loss. These can include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Family or friends have remarked on your hearing.<\/li><li>People seem to mumble, or you need them to repeat themselves often.<\/li><li>You have trouble following conversations in groups, especially in places with background noise, like <a href=\"https:\/\/bonesrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bones Restaurant<\/a>.<\/li><li>Telephone conversations are difficult to follow.<\/li><li>Others comment on the volume when you listen to the TV or music.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>By taking a proactive approach to your hearing health you\u2019re more likely to catch your hearing loss earlier.
