The symptoms that some people experience may not be the same that you experience. Some of the more commonly reported anxiety symptoms are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Feelings of dread or impending doom<\/li><li>Increased heart rate<\/li><li>Shaking or trembling<\/li><li>Feeling dizzy or lightheaded<\/li><li>Feeling like you can\u2019t breathe or are hyperventilating<\/li><li>Feeling restless<\/li><li>Obsessive thoughts<\/li><li>Nausea<\/li><li>Trouble sleeping<\/li><li>Trouble focusing<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Because some anxiety symptoms can mimic other serious conditions, it\u2019s important to seek medical attention and rule out other causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research on Hearing Loss and Anxiety<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/29726887\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">study published in 2018<\/a> observed 3,928 adults aged 65 and older over a 12-year period. It examined how both hearing loss and vision loss affected anxiety symptoms. Interestingly, increased anxiety symptoms were found in older adults with hearing loss, but not those with vision loss. \u00a0A potential reason why may be that people feel more comfortable with the idea of needing glasses as opposed to hearing aids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tinnitus Can Make Anxiety Worse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/advancedhearingga.com\/tinnitus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tinnitus<\/a> affects an estimated 50 million Americans. It is described as a ringing, buzzing, hissing, roaring or whooshing sound in the ear. Many people experience both tinnitus and hearing loss, and research suggest that tinnitus can make anxiety symptoms more severe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s00127-018-1638-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">review<\/a> looked at 25 different studies examining anxiety levels in people with hearing loss. It found that higher anxiety levels were tied to both tinnitus and more severe hearing loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hearing Aids and Other Anxiety Treatments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news about anxiety is that there are many effective treatments available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have untreated hearing loss or tinnitus, one of the best ways to reduce anxiety is to treat those conditions.
